Brightcove Customers Enter 2016 on the New Apple TV®

Is the new Apple TV on your holiday wish list? Shipments of the fourth-generation Apple TV® are projected to reach 24 million in 2016 according to J.P. Morgan analyst Rod Hall. As this new device enters more homes this holiday season and in 2016, Brightcove customers are taking advantage of a wide range of our solutions to extend their content to Apple TV to reach new and existing audiences in their living rooms.

Brightcove has deep expertise creating compelling video experiences on Apple TV. Through our modular cloud video services, media companies and brands have multiple options to deliver content to the Apple ecosystem. Here are just a few examples of how our customers are making it happen on Apple TV.

Sotheby’s

The world-renowned auction house was the first auction house with an App on the new Apple TV - and they used the Brightcove Jump Start solution to accelerate App development in order to be first. Sotheby’s new app allows you to explore the international art market by accessing Sotheby’s extensive video library and watching HD streams of auctions from Sotheby's locations around the world. Brightcove Jump Start for Apple TV® offers publishers and brands a professional services package to quickly build a video-centric Apple TV App that enables content in Video Cloud for the new Apple TV. Check out our previous blog about Sotheby’s live stream auctions to see how they’be been progressive with video in other ways.

MediaWorks

MediaWorks, New Zealand’s largest independent broadcaster, uses Brightcove Once, our server-side ad insertion product, to power the monetized streams in the Apple TV App for its catch up service 3NOW. Brightcove Once also supports FairPlay® Streaming (FPS), Apple’s digital rights management (DRM) format, for secure delivery of premium content. Brightcove is one of only six companies approved to deliver FPS content.

GoNoodle

GoNoodle has a unique mission to make physical activity an integral part of kids’ lives by providing a set of deskside activities that K-5 teachers can incorporate into the class day. GoNoodle was eager to have an App on Apple TV and to extend their videos from the classroom to the living room so kids can get moving more at home. The GoNoodle development team was able to easily connect their content in Video Cloud to their App to be ready on Day One. Other notable customers who have already deployed their own Apple TV Apps powered by Video Cloud include AccuWeather, Al Jazeera, and Eternal Word Television Network. We recently launched the Brightcove Native SDK for tvOS to make this process as easy as possible for our customers and to optimize video playback and capture of video analytics.

2016 promises to be an exciting year for more media companies and brands to extend their audience reach to Apple TV. Contact us to learn more about how we can help provide premium video experiences for this exciting new platform and reach new audiences in the living room.
