From humble beginnings in 2003, Movember has grown from what was originally a joke between two beer buddies into the global philanthropic movement for men’s health today.
An annual campaign that involves growing moustaches or beards during the month of November, millions of charity champions around the world would raise funds in support for the cause by growing facial hair, getting physically active, or by hosting similar Movember-themed events. The movement has raised over $770 million so far since its inception, and has helped fund more than 1,200 men’s health projects, focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Taking on the serious business of growing a moustache, the Brightcove Singapore team pledged earlier this month to cultivate some questionable-looking facial hair to support the cause. Intense competition brewed amongst the men as they completed a transformation from the wiriest whiskers to the most creative-looking moustaches. The women on the other hand, pledged towards a more healthier physique with the 30-day move and fitness challenge.
A shave-off celebration was held at our MoGiving Drinks Party on November 30 for friends of Brightcove and donors. We’re proud to have raised over $2,000 and would like to thank all those who have supported our Movember effort.
