It has been an exciting few weeks in the publishing industry for Brightcove in Asia. Earlier this month we announced a new major customer win in PT Media Nusantara Citra (MNC). MNC selected Brightcove to power video for its new Okezone website, a popular news and entertainment channel in Indonesia. Roy Simangunsong, CEO of MNC Group later joined us at Digital Media Asia, where we discussed recent trends surrounding video monetisation opportunities across online and mobile for publishers today.
This week, we are delighted to announce that MCIL Multimedia, a company owned by Southeast Asia’s largest Chinese publication distributor, Sin Chew Media Corporation, has partnered with Brightcove to increase its digital footprint with video. Launching two new media web properties, Pocketimes.my and LogOn.com.my, MCIL will leverage Brightcove Video Cloud to power its digital content and advertising offerings.
Both web properties will offer great features and we are very excited to be a part of them.
At Pocketimes.my, a news video channel, viewers are instantly greeted with a single, featured video prominently displayed on the publisher’s homepage. The viewing experience is immediately immersive and instantly lifts Sin Chew’s profile in video journalism, where two live news broadcasts are showcased daily in addition to regular programming that is also made available to mobile audiences.
LogOn.com.my is an e-commerce marketplace that uniquely features “video e-mercials”. As the first of its kind in Malaysia, the “video e-mercials” enables merchants to shoot with MCIL to promote their products to over 35 million monthly viewers across MCIL’s media platforms. With this, Sin Chew has found an innovative way to extend video’s value proposition beyond the conventional in-stream advertising - to sell the video itself to advertisers - and create a new revenue stream for the business.
