August Tech Meetups and Events at Brightcove Boston

The fact that it’s August doesn’t mean we’re taking any breaks from hosting tech meetups and events in our Boston offices. It’s shaping up to be a busy month, in fact. Check out the schedule below and feel free to sign up for any functions that pique your interest. Hope to see you here!

Boston Ruby Group Monthly Meeting, Tuesday, August 14th, 6:30 PM: Ruby novices and masters alike are certain to learn something new, share ideas and experiences, and meet other users in the community. The August meeting features two 45-minute talks. First will be Ben Orenstien with Refactoring: A Live Coding Odyssey. And, yes, Ben will demonstrate some advanced topics on refactoring using LIVE CODE. Next, Mark Bates will discuss Ruby Motion: Myth, Magic, or the Future? To learn more and RSVP, go to bostonrb.org.

Node.js in the Wild Meetup, Thursday, August 16th, 7 PM: Organizers Jesse Streb (Brightcove) and Tim Walling (Connected Sports) are kicking off Node.js in the Wild with a look at apps in production and conversation on:

  • code structure.
  • libraries being used (Express, Jade, Knox and others).
  • hosting.
  • the stack (Mongo, Redis, EC2 and more).

Boston New Technology Meetup, Tuesday, August 21st, 6:30 PM: "NewSQL: SQL Technologies Keeping NoSQL Promises." For more information and to register, click here.

Front End Developers Boston Meetup, Wednesday, August 22nd, 6:30 PM: This monthly meetup features presentations on Front End Web Technologies like HTML5/CSS3, Javascript, Javascript Frameworks, JQuery, JQuery Mobile, etc. For more information and to register, click here.

Opscode Chef Boston Meetup, Tuesday, August 28th, 6 PM: This month’s presentations will focus on "Team Development Workflows with Chef.” Pete Cheslock (Sonian) and Ian Marlier (Brightcove) will discuss their teams’ approach - including the good, the bad, and the ugly - to this critical process.
