Brightcove Execs Update Customers on Q1 Developments

Recapping an eventful start to the year, Brightcove Chairman and CEO, Jeremy Allaire, and President and COO, David Mendels, hosted the quarterly Executive Update webcast for Brightcove customers this week. Jeremy and David offered attendees information on new thought leadership initiatives, Video Cloud and App Cloud product updates, and new customer examples and partnerships, followed by a period of Q&A.

Among the whitepapers and case studies highlighted during the webcast was “Online Video Monetization Made Simple,” which covers the evolution in online video advertising such as changes in formats, underlying technologies, and placement strategies, as well as “Rise of the Content App Platforms,” which speaks to an emerging category of online software and services that are meeting the needs of digital media organizations that are engaging with audiences via apps. Two case studies were also introduced for Cars.com and Joyce Meyer Ministries.

David reviewed updates to Video Cloud that include the ability to replace videos in the media module while keeping the same metadata, along with the results of a significant focus on video quality, the effects of which should already be evident to customers. Other developments covered were:
- Improved in-line playback on Facebook.
- HTML5 plug-in support to add functionality to players and player templates.
- YourBrand TV, a pre-packaged professional services offering for customers requiring a branded online television portal.

Following an App Cloud overview, Jeremy highlighted product updates such as cross-platform push notifications, a feature that will be available the week of March 19 and gives users the ability to deliver targeted notifications to phones and tablets through a business user friendly interface. Content-level analytics are also now available to measure both notification and content performance.

Finally, Jeremy and David discussed a host of Brightcove customers with innovative deployments such as The Humane Society of the United States, which built a function that surfaces a “donation” notification from the player to drive fundraising efforts.

Following the Q&A session, Jeremy and David extended an invitation to all Brightcove customers to attend PLAY, our annual customer conference taking place in Boston, June 25-27.
