Advance Internet to Roll Out New Online Video Experiences with Brightcove

Earlier today, we teamed up with Advance Internet to announce an agreement to provide new video technology and tools that will enrich the experiences of the audience, advertisers and content creators in the 12 markets served by Advance Internet’s leading local websites across the U.S. Advance Internet, which is one of the top three newspaper groups in the country according to comScore, is a leading creator of highly interactive local news and information digital products in alliance with more than 25 newspapers affiliated with Advance Publications, Inc.

Later this summer, Advance Internet will launch a new video experience on the Brightcove online video platform across all of its Web properties that will deliver high quality video content, as well as improve the experience for users who want to share their own videos.

The new video player design will include a large display, bold advertising elements and better targeting options for local businesses. It will also include topical playlists, social media tools for sharing content via Facebook, Twitter and Digg, and the ability to embed video content and video advertising in other sites.

This news comes on the heels of a new report from comScore that highlights the top U.S. online newspaper groups. According to comScore, more than 123 million Americans visited newspaper sites in May, representing 57% of the total U.S. Internet audience. Brightcove customer, The New York Times, led the category with more than 32 million visitors and 719 million page views during the month. As referenced above, Advance Internet is the third ranked newspaper group in the report, while other Brightcove customers USA Today, MediaNews Group and Hearst Newspapers are in the top 10.

Collectively, Brightcove’s newspaper publishers operate ad-supported online video operations across more than 300 newspaper websites globally, and that number will continue to grow thanks to new video initiatives from innovative newspaper organizations like Advance Internet.
