Today, from the Next09 conference in Hamburg, Germany, Brighcove CEO Jeremy Allaire will announce two important new developments for Brightcove in the region.
First, Discovery Networks Germany has chosen the Brightcove platform to power its online video properties. Building on the strong standing relationship with Discovery Communications in the U.S., Brightcove will enable Discovery Germany to showcase promotional clips as well as full-length programming on its flagship Web property DMAX.de. The ad-supported content will include archived episodes of past seasons of shows, new episodes of recently aired shows for catch-up TV purposes, as well as exclusive online premieres of selected new episodes prior to their television debut. Second, Brightcove will announce a distribution partnership with sevenload, one of Europe's leading social media networks for video, photos and Web TV content. This partnership will also introduce new monetization opportunities for Brightcove customers that are expanding their advertising inventory through distribution into the sevenload network. Brightcove customers already taking advantage of this new distribution opportunity include SPOX.com, Premier's popular sports Web portal in Germany and Austria.
The announcements continue the momentum Brightcove is experiencing in Germany since the launch of our office in Hamburg in late 2008. Brightcove counts among its German customers OMS, an online sales and marketing network for over 60 regional newspapers and Gruner + Jahr, Europe's largest magazine publisher.
