Today at the NAB Show in Las Vegas Adobe and Brightcove will announce a new and far-reaching strategic alliance that deepens the integration and alignment between Adobe's software platform and Brightcove's online video service. The alliance also sets in motion a new sales and marketing framework between the two companies to jointly acquire new customers on a worldwide basis.
The Adobe and Brightcove strategic alliance focuses on four core areas:
- Long-Form HD Video on the Web and Enhanced Content Protection: Brightcove and Adobe will integrate Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5 into the Brightcove service giving media customer around the world turn-key access to its full capabilities for multi bitrate delivery for up to HD quality, long-form online video, encryption, for video experiences consumers can enjoy through standard web browsers and without any special software plug-ins.
- Adobe Creative Suite 4 and Brightcove Service integration: Brightcove and Adobe will collaborate to integrate Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium software, including the powerful Adobe Media Encoder, with the Brightcove platform to streamline online publishing workflows while preserving valuable metadata.
- Collaboration on “Strobe,” the open media player framework - The companies plan to work together to ensure interoperability between the Adobe open media player framework - code named "Strobe" - and the Brightcove online video platform. The initiative will empower developers and website programmers with free open source video player code that works on top of the Brightcove service.
- The alliance agreement also provides a framework for several marketing and sales activities between the companies to ensure effective field-level collaboration worldwide.
